Kall8 Phone and Microsoft Teams

What "unlimited" really means

We sell unlimited calling on cloud users and metered minutes on numbers, and we print the numbers behind both. Here is exactly what you get, where the line is, and what happens if you cross it.

At Kall8, unlimited means unlimited calling in the US48 for one person using the Kall8 app or Teams on their local number, within published thresholds: 2,500 minutes a month per user, no more than 25 % of minutes to fewer than 5 numbers, and an account average under 1,500 minutes per user. Toll-free numbers and forwarded calls are metered.

1. Scope: what unlimited covers

Unlimited applies to calls placed or received through the Kall8 app or Teams client on the local number assigned to that user, to and from the US48. Toll-free numbers, international destinations, calls forwarded to an outside phone and standalone Kall8 numbers are metered.

In practice: a Kall8 Phone user at $19.95 a month can talk all day on their local number in the app. If that same user adds a toll-free number, calls on it are metered per minute above any plan allowance. If a Numbers plan forwards calls to a cell phone, those minutes come out of the plan's allowance and are then billed per minute (usage pricing).

2. Concurrency

Each user can hold a stated maximum number of simultaneous calls: 3 simultaneous calls per user. A hunt group or auto-attendant spreads calls across users; a single user is not a call center.

3. Normal business use, defined by numbers

2,500 minutes per user in a calendar month
25 % of a user's minutes to or from fewer than 5 distinct numbers
1,500 minutes average per user across the account

A user is outside normal use when any one of those is exceeded. Prohibited outright, regardless of volume:

  • Auto-dialers and predictive dialing
  • Call-center or telemarketing use
  • Trunking or resale
  • Fax or voice broadcast
  • Continuous call forwarding
  • Call pumping or traffic that generates termination revenue
  • Any use that violates the Acceptable Use Policy

4. Remedies, in order

  1. Notice
  2. Conversion of the affected users to metered billing at the published per-minute rate from the first day of the month in question
  3. Suspension for repeated or clearly abusive use
  4. Termination without refund for prohibited use

Kall8 may apply the remedies without prior notice where fraud or toll fraud is suspected.

5. Monitoring

The same usage-anomaly alerts that protect new accounts from fraud run on every Phone user: minutes per day, distinct destinations and simultaneous calls. Enforcement is systematic, not discretionary, and the thresholds above are the ones the alerts use.

Fair-use questions

For calls made and received in the Kall8 app or Teams client on the user's local number, to and from the US48, yes, within the thresholds on this page. A normal business user never reaches them: 2,500 minutes is more than 40 hours of talk time a month.

Every minute on a toll-free number costs Kall8 a carrier charge that scales with use, as does every minute forwarded to a phone on another network. Selling those as unlimited would mean either a hidden cap or a price that punishes light users, so they are metered at a published per-minute rate above the plan allowance instead (see usage pricing).

First a notice. If it continues, the affected users move to metered billing at the published per-minute rate from the first day of that month. Suspension is for repeated or clearly abusive use, and termination without refund only for the prohibited uses listed here.

They are configuration rather than contract text so they can be tuned, and any change is published on this page and in the terms before it takes effect.

Most competitors describe fair use without numbers, or put a number only in their terms of service. The comparison table on this page quotes what each publishes with a link and the capture date.
